5th Step to ZeroWaste - Say no to Paper Cup

Dear Readers,

Today I am going to share some simple data which makes you think about the impact of our normal daily habit on this planet,  which most us ignore or does not pay much attention.

It's been a couple of years I started adopting the environmentally friendly lifestyle.Nowadays I feel like sharing my thoughts and ideas with my fellow environmentalist or people looking for some information which they can use to help the environment so that the positive impact can be multiplied.

One more thing about me is I love coffee and also I drink a lot of water on a given day.In this process, I started using lots of paper cups. One day I was reviewing my annual contribution to a better planet, in this process, I realized that my habit of using paper cups is creating a negative impact on the planet. So I not only decided to change but actually started implementing it for almost two years. I can feel I already started creating the positive impact.Following image shows cup which I use for coffee and bottle for water. Now my trash can looks empty after long work day also. This makes me proud of myself and my contribution towards planet by replacing cup with a water bottle and Ceramic cup. I am not only the person following this at my workplace; there are a couple of other people too.

Did a small search about this habit and how it's creating an impact on the plane and found out following facts which blocked my mind and decided to share with all so that together we can multiply positive impact by taking necessary steps.

As a single person if I can avoid 4.5 tons of co2 emission.
Avoid the cutting trees which are spread in 2.3 square miles (that's 1472 acres forest we can protect).

If this positive impact can be multiplied by 100 people together, we can avoid 450 tons of co2 and more people join this mission we can avoid hundreds and thousands of tons of co2 in just very few short years.

To understand how much positive impact we can create together check out these numbers.

  • Top 5 populated cities in the USA has a population of 19 million.
  • If these cities completely avoid or switch to Reusable cups we can save 3.42 Million tons of Co2 per year.
  • Together these cities can save 1.7 Million Square miles of forest.

I am contributing for better tomorrow what about you?

Let's share this article with #nopapercups #saveplant #savetrees #ReduceReuseRecycle #zerowaste  so that it can reach out to people thinking about creating a positive impact.

Babysteps to Zero waste home

Dear Planeteers,  I am very proud that whatever I learned at my childhood from grandparents is helping me to contribute to the better environment. I learned how to grow food at home from my grandparents, also reuse and make my choices careful about purchases.  Today I am going to share some of the tips which I used to reduce my impact ton environment. Buying locally made bar SOAP (for bath), this will not have any plastic or paper cover to it, and also made with natural ingredients. Using Coconut Oil for hair and body as conditioner/moisturizer, this step can help reduce your plastic waste and also having less amount of clutter around you. There are other options as well, in my childhood my grandparent used butter as a moisturizer for me for few years. Using metallic RAZOR in which will be changing the blades (which don't have any plastic) and used blades can be recycled.  Growing simple food items at home, such as Tomato, Cholli, Basil, Mint, Curr...

Zero Waste: Making Red Chili Powder

Dear Planeteers, We were growing different varieties of chillies from couple of years, but this year is little different. With the help of my co-worker, I found out that we can grow chillies from the same plant for multiple years. So I gave extra care during the winters to protect them. Luckily we could keep 3 plants in an excellent state from last year and got a very good harvest of green chillies this year so far. Now we have enough of green chillies and few left them to turn red chillies on the plant. We started wondering what we should do with these red chilies!!  We let the chillies turn red on the plants and harvested them once they are red and ripen. 1st red chili harvest I kept for seeds and 2nd harvest I decided to make Red Chili powder for our cooking. We dry them in Oven as we are close to winter now (even before winter started we had #californiawildfire which caused ash fall and low sunny days) this is not a conventional method but works good to dry the chilis. Then usi...

6th Step to ZeroWaste - Go Digital Wallet

Dear Planeteers,   Thank you so much for your continuous interest on this website, where you get information on contributing to a better planet. At the end of the day, it's choices we make for adopting a better lifestyle.   Today I am going to share my experiences about the changes I made to make a positive impact on the environment towards my goal of going zero waste. From the title you might guessed it Right, A digital wallet can reduce a lot of plastic waste. Also, help us maintain our finances better.  Let me start this article by sharing my experience with my recent Bank visit. When I was at the bank, they were quite surprised to know I do not have a checkbook or an ATM card for my account. Their first question was, How I manage to use my account? My answer was simple and straight, I use A Digital Wallet for money transfers, for paying at the stores, and I pay bills online. I explained them that I don't use plastic cards and checkbooks to red...
