6th Step to ZeroWaste - Go Digital Wallet

Thank you so much for your continuous interest on this website, where you get information on contributing to a better planet. At the end of the day, it's choices we make for adopting a better lifestyle.  

Today I am going to share my experiences about the changes I made to make a positive impact on the environment towards my goal of going zero waste. From the title you might guessed it Right, A digital wallet can reduce a lot of plastic waste. Also, help us maintain our finances better. 

Let me start this article by sharing my experience with my recent Bank visit. When I was at the bank, they were quite surprised to know I do not have a checkbook or an ATM card for my account. Their first question was, How I manage to use my account? My answer was simple and straight, I use A Digital Wallet for money transfers, for paying at the stores, and I pay bills online. I explained them that I don't use plastic cards and checkbooks to reduce plastic and paper waste.   

 Today Digital Technology is very secured, easy  and is continuously improving, with #ApplePay, Improved version of #AndroidPay, #SamsungPay, #PayPal digital wallets, there are great options for users to choose at their convenience. One thing for sure these digital wallets need to be secured with a strong level of access on your phone, but that is a different thing altogether, But today I am going to tell you what motivated me to have this digital wallet.

Now, do I need to worry about losing my wallet? I don't think so. Whenever I go shopping, I don't need to pull out my wallet each time I but something, all I do is use my phone to pay.  
 

The advantage of switching to digital wallets: 

You will reduce the new plastic demand (which is used to make the plastic cards). Indirectly we are helping to lessen the emission of toxic chemicals in the atmosphere. Assist in reducing energy, natural resource consumption.

Easy to maintain your wallet, fewer chances that you will lose one of your cards.

Easy to maintain your store loyalty card, and your digital wallets will remind you about the rewards and offers. 

Switch to digital gift cards: 

This step is the most important step towards making a positive impact on the environment by avoiding plastic cards. Mostly, We tend to give a plastic gift card to a family/friends, on an average each household buys at least 12 to 20 gift cards (plastic cards). Once they are redeemed just imagine the quantity of cards we trash?  

Next time when you want to give a gift card try to give the e-gift card to a family member or a friend and tell them why you like to share an e-gift card instead of a plastic card. We may motivate a few to start contributing for this good cause. Or share this article with them. 

Together if we can reduce plastic, by switching some simple habits, we can make a big difference. If each family can reduce or avoid plastic cards usage, on average, we are going to cut around 30 cards per year. (this including gift cards). Now imagine if 1 million people can make this switch that is an enormous number. So help us to this achieve this great goal and lets help ourselves to have a better planet.
